JARS AND BOTTLES
Anna Rósa has especially chosen jars and bottles made from violet glass to protect the quality of her delicate herbal ingredients. The high quality violet glass will give optimal protection against harmful effects of light, prolonging the potency and freshness of the products and increasing the shelf life. These containers are elegant, they are 100% recyclable and can be reused over and over again. The lids and caps are made from polypropylene and polyethylene plastic which are also fully recyclable materials. There is no production of cosmetic containers in Iceland so there was unfortunately never any option of sourcing material locally. The violet glass is however manufactured in Europe which is much better for the carbon-foot print than buying from further away.
PRODUCT BOXES
We really thought about not having any product boxes in order to save on excess use of material. However in our case it is simply not practical since all our products need to have information in two languages and the labels on the containers are much too small to hold the text needed. Additionally, the boxes protect the jars and bottles when shipped and we dont need to use as much wrapping material as we would have other-wise. All our product boxes are made with FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified paper from well-managed forests and are of course 100% recyclable. The ink used for printing is based on naturally renewable raw material. We use an Icelandic printing company which has a Nordic Swan Ecolabel for eco-friendly printshop (no. 1041 0858). The printing is also made with renewable geothermal energy.
SHIPPING MATERIAL
We have really made an effort to offer 100% recyclable and compostable shipping material. Our shipper box is made from a minimum of 90% recycled material, is 100% recyclable and naturally biodegradable. It is printed with water-based ink and is ready to be used again. The shipping labels we use are zero waste labels which are 100% recyclable. These label have a recycle-compatible adhesive, making it easy for recyclers and paper pulpers to process packages with these labels on it. And last but not least, the shipping labels are on a release liner which is also zero-waste using 100% post-consumer content paper and is 100% recyclable with other paper. Traditional release liners are silicone-coated and extremely difficult to recycle so we are very happy to have found this solution. We also use totally recyclable paper tape with water-based ink to secure our shipper boxes and save our environment. The packing paper we use is also 100% recyclable and uses water-based ink for the printing.
